It had to be the Valkyrie I did with Trevor Steel in 1977.
I had done three consecutive overlands in 1977 by the time the Valkyrie came along. Each of those had been with different Couriers, in various states of newness, or not
The first trip a Caravan was a courierless trip, with two drivers, Ken Phelan and I, the next two with Vicar who was on his first trip, and we hadn’t been to Russia.
The 4th trip of the year was with Trevor Steel, and I was tired. I’d never been to Scandi before, but Trevor had a number of times. The trip was a breeze.
Trev had everything sorted, and all I had to do was drive. Not hard when you like driving.
The high light of the trip was pissing off the top of the bridge in Tromso. It was a long way up, and a long way down, and it just seemed like something that had to be done.
Trev made the trip almost a holiday for me, and the punters had a ball.
He did a great job.
